Gen Creighton, PCHR Academic Learner, has been awarded a Canada Graduate Scholarship - Doctoral Award, from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council at SSHRC.
The Ron Draper Health Promotion Award was presented to Lezlie Wagman, PCHR Co-Convener and Mentor, and The Sharon Martin Community Health Fund (the SMART Fund), in June 2007.
Irving Rootman, PCHR Co-Convener and Mentor, received an award in June 2007 form the Canadian Consortium for Health Promotion Research for “Leadership Excellence in Health Promotion Research in Canada”.
Congratulations to Brian Evoy, PCHR Alumnus. He was presented with the 2007 Population and Public health (PPH) Student Award at the IUHPE Annual Conference in Vancouver this past June. This award was in recognition of Brian's PhD dissertation research (Title: An examination of the ethical decision-making prcoesses used in decisions to fund, reduce or cease funding tailored health services), and one of 3 presentations he made at the conference, "Civil Society?: What Deliberative Democrats can tell advocates about how to build public commitment to the health promotion agenda(s)".
Jennifer Terpstra, 2007-2008 PCHR Academic Learner, was awarded the CIHR 2006 Doctoral Research Award in Public Health.
Jenny Mathews and Gen Creighton, 2007-2008 PCHR Academic Learners, received funding from the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI) for their Evergreen Young Men's Health Project.
