The Applicant Selection Committee is looking for specific attributes when they review applications. Academic transcripts are of secondary importance. Pleae address the following criteria in your CV/resume, essay, and reference letters (ie. give the following list to both your referees when you ask them to write your letter):
1) "Good fit" with one of our clusters (ie. your interests seem compatible, yet flexible enough, for you to make a strong contribution to the group project which the cluster will select in September).
2) Transdisciplinary interest and experience.
3) Teamwork interest and experience.
4) Interpersonal/communication/people skills.
5) Innovative personal qualities (eg. a pioneer, a problem solver, creative, flexible).
6) General research knowledge (including course work).
7) Community health research knowledge (including course work).
8) Evidence of interest in an applied research career.
9) Volunteer work in healthcare or in the community.
10) Academic performance.
Applicants will be contacted between March 15th and May 31st. Cluster representatives will be interviewing those who are under consideration for their cluster. Some applicants will be placed on a wait list during the summer, as sometimes other applicants require several weeks to confirm their acceptance.
Due to the high number of applications, and the process of teams reviewing each application, these deadlines are firm and the responsibility of each applicant to meet them. Extensions are unfair to the other applicants and, therefore, extensions will not be possible. Potential applicants will not be reminded of upcoming deadlines.
